Old duffer

You know you are not one of youth culture an ymore when;

You find Gavin and Stacey totally unfunny and pointless.
Think Russell Brand needs a bloody good hair wash and brush.
Find Russell Brand unfunny and just annoying.
Same for Chris Moyles.
Girls in short skirts just produce "Blimey she must be cold".

Nearly there!!

I was totally knackered last night. Having had very little sleep the night before and having to pull a long shift at work, I left here totally drained. Mrs H had spent much of the day in town and finished our little bit of shopping. Last night was then spent wrapping everything up. I now just need to wrap hers and we are done.

Have one of Mari's work colleagues coming over tonight. He is learning to play the drums and as I am still trying to crack the guitar we thought it might be fun to learn together. I have no idea how good he is and he has no idea how bad I am so it should be fun :-)

Think next year I am going to bring back tales from the tower as it has been a while since I wrote one.

Is Farther Christmas coming??

Seems I spoke to early on the DM's Blog earlier this week when I said me and 'Charlotte's Mum' had things sorted. On Friday I got a phone call from her asking me what time I was returning CN and that it would be to her house. I was then told that CN was 'Being a Pickle'. 'Oh, why is that' I asked. Well it would seem that she was upset and when told that she was going to Daddy and Mari's house. She said No and gave the impression she did not want to come.... very weird.

So there are a couple of things that I am not happy about.
First - Why would you ring someone up to tell them that their daughter didn't want to come and see them. I mean I never knowing told her of the times that CN never wanted to go and see her. Let a lone the times, when I had got to the house she would not get out of the car. Did I make a big issue of it. No of course not coz I can imagine it would make the other one feel like crap. Luckily having lived with years of this emotional abuse kind of washes over me. Sadly Mari still finds it hard.

Second - When I picked her up from the Childminders she ran up and said "Mari's house". Which sounds like she wanted to come to us. Added to the fact that her Mum was sat not six feet away. I also made her say goodbye to her Mum, although she never went up and said bye to her just called from the door.

Third - So I got Charlotte home and asked her "Do you want to go to Mummy's house?". "Yes" She responded. So we asked her why. "Christmas Presents" came the reply straight away.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhh we said. Would seem that my baby things if she comes to us she wont get her presents on Christmas day. So we spent much of Friday making sure she knew that Farther Christmas knew she was at our house and that he would be stopping by.

Hopefully it is all sorted now. I am sure her Mum needs to have this control to feel alive sadly it doesn't work any more. the rest of the weekend was ace. Party on Saturday and dinner and Madagascar 2 in Basingstoke on Sunday. Although I think to glasses of diet coke for CN is her limit. She was up most last night chatting away. (NB we hardily ever give her pop and only on special occasions)

This town is coming like a ghost town

This morning saw Mari's sister head back to Venezuela for the holidays. Actually this place has become very quiet for us as most of the V-Crew head back to the Sun and family reunions. I'm only sad that Mari is not able to go too although as mentioned before we were there in March.

It is really strange having in-laws that are so far away and seem so detached from us. By contrast the ex laws were always poking their noises in and it was very rare that we didn't see them.

Mari's parents are lovely. Both of them used to be teachers so just about everyone knows them in the town. Going around with her Dad there is always someone he is shouting at. By that I mean in a good way. In Venezuela if you see someone you know give them a shout out..literally. Her Mum is more quiet but as always is the rock of the family. They made me feel very welcome and I am sure it must have been very weird for them meeting me as their son in law.

Hoping we can get back there soon but we have to juggle things which is always hard.

So full

Nuff said really. Went out for the workers Christmas dinner which actually was very, very good. Usually these things take forever and taste like shite. However the food in the blackboy was excellent and the service bloody good. I now feel totally full now and just want to nap.

Having nightmares about being Sparky's bestman at his wedding next month. He was a total star at mine and I really want to do him proud. Need to work on the speech as that is the big thing. Well it is not the only thing but in truth it is the one thing that can go totally tit's up. Have an idea what I want to say but there are so many no no's with these things that I am worried I might get it wrong. Still as long as I thank him for his kind words about the Bridemaids I am OK.

Hallelujah Run

I am no singer or musician, I try but I know I am far from calling myself that but boy do I think the new version of Hallelujah sucks piles of dog poo. Why? Well let me tell you. I first heard the song in Shrek ( John Cale cover version) and loved it. So simple and yet so powerful. You are left to put your own emotion in the song. So along comes 'Cry me a river' and covers it as the X-factor winners single and totally ruins the song. See some things have more power when they are not forced. I hate the fact that she feels the need to 'Show off' her voice by hitting every vocal octave she can, including those only audible to dogs, dolphin's and fax machines. Leon Lewis is another one ruining a great song Snow patrols run. Another classic simple yet emotive song that doesn't try to hard. Some songs really don't need the theatrics and leave the listener to draw on their own experience to add volume to the song.

By the way JLS version was much better. Simple to the point and even left me with goose bumps.

In other news turns out Royal mail have sent letter back solicitors. Great thanks for the great re-direct service.

Royal Mail Grrrrr

Been expecting a letter from my Uncle's (R.I.P) solicitors which hasn't arrived yet. Apart from anything it should contain the remainder of what is owed to us after the vultures have picked us dry. (Not enough to by a boat and retire but better than a kick in the nuts as they say). Sadly dumbass here forgot to tell them we had moved BUT had remembered to use the re-direct service (so it should be OK). So while my sister had received hers last week, we are left waiting in anticipation. :-(

COME ON ROYAL MAIL it's easy.

Irony or what

Check this out

Meh !!

Feeling rather flat today. Still haven't recovered from Sunday which is a shame.

The man flu thing seems to have halted and I just feel a little chesty at the moment. Charlotte sat down and did all her Christmas cards last nights (which beats me hands down). She sat a wrote them all by herself (OK needed a bit of prompting) and really enjoyed it.... strange kid.

Going down.... not in a good way :-)

Mayday Mayday Mayday. Echo Lima Matador, Humanoid, 1 POB, Cold alert, Sitting at desk feeling like crap.

I have that tickle in the back of the throat just starting which suggest that I may before very long be suffering the full effects of man flu.

Bugger

Cry me a river

I have a confession to make, a dirty admission. You see not only did I watch the X factor final at the weekend, but also the Girls aloud Christmas party in between the shows. Both were as expected pretty dire but never the less entertaining. Sadly cry me a river won the X-factor which was a shame as we were kind of rooting for the band JLS.

The shocking thing about the Girls aloud show was that I now have a renewed respect for the ginger one. I read once that she took a lot of stick for being a) unattractive and b) didn’t actually do anything in the band. However she did a lot of the singing on the show and was by far was one of the better, ahead of Cheryl and at least 2 others. In fact the only one I thought could give it large was the blonde with the short hair.

I will now go and stand in the corner and throng myself.

Sometimes I really wish I could move far away from here, just escape the past but somehow I get the feeling that wouldn’t even help. Another cracking weekend ruined on Sunday but something beyond my control.

101

Best concert ever - OK maybe only if you are a DM fan.

I had the mother of all skull aches yesterday. No Idea why but it hurt like hell from about lunch time.

Mrs H had decided to invite some colleges over to Garland tonight to have a venezuelan dinner fiesta. So I spent most of last night cleaning so that she could pre cook all the stuff she needed to so tonight we are having Arepas and Pabell%C3%B3n. It also took me a while to transfer from the laptop to the new toy and create some playlists of a Latin variety.

Today seems to be dragging though. Might do a tale from the tower later as I haven't done one on here.

Peace

The day after

Today I ache like someone who is too old and stupid to realize he should just get fat and old gracefully. Then you watch the extras on Iron man and realize that RD is 40 in fit like a mofo so maybe just maybe one day I can at least feel fit again. Problem with me at the moment is consistency. I seem to be able to get the gym, get fit and then not do anything for a while.

Last night I spent a large part of my time playing with the toy. Most of that spent running up and down stairs trying to get the 2 units to connect. Could do it when they were next to each other but as soon as I went upstairs nada. Ended up inching my way upstairs but seem to have it licked now.

Forgot to mention poor Charlotte's experience at the weekend. as I mentioned Yesterday my niece had a kids party. It was a swimming party. However thanks to her Mother not telling the school she had had a bad cough, they sent her swimming last week, which of course made said cough worse. So I took the decision that she would not swim but would go for cake and the food. So we arrived at about the time the food was going to start. "They are not finished swimming yet" said the young lady on reception, "but if you want to go to the viewing area you can watch them" she continued. Now Miss Charlotte loves swimming. When we pulled up at the leisure centre she got all excited but understood that she was not going swimming. So I decided that the viewing area was hell for her so we asked if we could go to the room. So up we went. Opened the door and....................... the whole bloody side wall was glass over looking the pool. She did stand at the window looking but was actually very good in understanding that she could not go because of her chest.

Ouch

So I didn't realize how unfit I was until about an hour ago when I decided I would try the boxercise class. Turns out the new gym chap who works there is a bit of a boxing trainer so had us doing all sorts of exercise to bend us into lean mean killing machines. Took about 5 mins before my chest felt like it was on fire and my arms stopped working.

Still to be honest I was expecting it. I haven't done any proper exercise for at least a month maybe even more so I knew I was in trouble. The first time always hurts as George was heard saying in trap 2 in the loo's the other day.

Life is a rollercaster

A jolly fine and chilly Monday to one and all.

Not sure why I am so jolly guess I am just realising life is fab at the mo. Despite Sunday evening.

Friday night saw Mrs H head off on her works Christmas dinner. That left me all alone in Garland and what did I do. Well let me tell you. I watched transformers again. This time moving the Surround speakers into their proper positions so I could get the full effect. Big tub of Popcorn (half was over done) and a nice glass of the Black stuff (no not Guinness but Coke). Mrs H came home at 1am and we chatted for a bit before heading to bed.

Saturday it was up to my sisters for my Nieces Adult Birthday bash IE with the grown ups. It was a bit off fun and had way to much to eat.

Sunday Mrs H and i went to town to do bit of house shopping. Ended up getting one of these.

Then it was off to my nieces kids birthday party where we had a bit of an issue but I refuse to let ruin what was a very good weekend.

A proper post

It is the morning after the night before. Last night was the "Party Animals" xmas do. This goes back to the "What do the department want to do for a xmas dinner". A few said lets get all fancy dressed up and go to this place. The rest of us thought "No thanks". Anyway "Party animal" seems to be the word too as it seems they were thrown out of the dinner for starting a fight. Which now I wish I had gone just to see that..

Gym again yesterday although I let my self down with a brownie and Pie and mash for dinner. Same routine as Tuesday but I added in some arms.

Ok so it wasn't a proper post but it will do for now.

Matches

Well last night saw me watching 2 British programs on the Rectangle box. First up was Special forces heroes and the recount of the hostage rescue in Sierra Leon. Involving SAS and Para's. I was so taken in by it because a) I featured the mighty Chinook b) In terms of the Army the Para's are considered hard as bleedin nails, but hear then talking in awe about the SAS makes you really think how good these guys really are.

Second up was a British drama survivors. The Mrs said that the people at work had been building this up. I in turn said that British Sci-fi drama usually lacks some sort of OMG I really can't wait for the next episode. In fact I described like this:

and it was very much like that. Plus it meant I missed CSI Miami.

Dragging

It really really is today. Not helped by not being able to get into service centre to figure out WTF I am supposed to be doing.

I have decided (again) to go on a health kick. Thanks to largely feeling really unfit and now having to wear larger pants so.

Day 1
Weight - FK knows but it is shit loads more than 9st I used weigh many years ago (I was 9st wet through when I joined the RAF)
Height - Still 6ft

Since this day one, I am hoping to hit the gym of course it will only be a small session as there is nothing like over doing it one day one. Run and maybe some weights.

Lunch
2 x cheese sandwiches and an apple (hoping to avoid the packet of crisps that seem to be calling me from the shop)

Update

Gym done - Managed 8 min walk, 2 min jog, sit ups, back extensions, push ups and 30kg bench press.

Very hard to resist pull of salt and Vinegar crisps but some how managed it.

We can be Heroes

Nice to have someone you know on the beeb and not in horrible he killed 15 people way.

Sgt Eggleton was a meer raw recruit when I started training him. He arrived at the station or green and wet behind the ears. Hopefully I was able to help him and looks like the boy done good

Whos' going to drive you home??

well me actually. That weekend just flew past way to quick and mostly spent on roads.
Friday night I helped Amigos connection with a gig at the reading student union in aid of the Latin American society. This include new boy Franz on the conga's and me trying really hard to a) Stop everything feeding back and b)getting some lighting effects to work during matador. The place was packed and the crowd was well into it. Got home at 2am up at 6.30 to drive to York.

Drive was ok stopped for brekkie about half way and then completed the rest of journey really well until the fking signs stopped showing us the way. Met Sparky and got measured for my suit for his wedding. Then it was off for more driving but this was fun as it was karting. I won but Miss daisy(Sparky came 2nd Last). Back to the Mess for a combat kip and then out into York for the main Stag bit. Indian and a view pints (well quit a few, me ordering shots for everyone but off course not drinking them). By the end of the night the only thing I can say is I felt rather old. All this time Mrs H was entertained by Lydia (Sparky's future MRS)

Sunday was a late get up, brunch and then drive all the way back. I rather ache after the karing and sitting driving for abou 12 hours over the week end.

A LOT OF FUN though and can't week for the actual day.

MIA

Yeah sorry guys been MIA for a few days. Had Monday and Tuesday off as i was feeling a little unwell. Wednesday was a normal worky day but Thursday was off as Charlotte has been off school since Monday as well.

Which reminds..Doctors really are a bred unto themselves. I took C to the Docs and although she was very good and had a really good way with her told me f**k all. It's a cough (Nooo really I wondered what that hacking noise was), It has reached her chest (Ok that is good). Just give her water ( WTF ). "So no cough mixture" said I. "NO I don't think they do any good". So there you go folks Doctors themselves don't believe in medicine.

Down down deeper and down

I have to admit I have been on slight downer for the past few days. The general feeling is that it might be the low after all the excitement of getting the house. All the stress, panic and mental brain things that one has to do, have finally eased away and billy the brain is left to come down.

Hoping that this weekend lifts the spirits. First of it is the weekend. Charlotte is also about and we have a shopping trip planned to get her all kitted out for the winter. Sunday I am going to try and do a roast. So if you get an invite for Sunday lunch from me............ run a way fast.

Have great weekend all.

Wednesday, 19 November 2008

After a week in a half

well after a week and a bit finally starting to settle into the house.

Good
1. More room
2. Charlotte's room is big
3. Washing doesn't have to dry in the lounge
4. Going up to bed
5. Garden - although not really been out in it yet
6. The showers are ace - proper blast you across the room types.
7. Kitchen big enough to store everything and swing a cat in.

Bad
1. Must get a blind for the bedroom window apparently one can see into our bedroom.
2. More room means more to clean.
3. Finding the right light switch
4. Flies - we seem to have a few (Think the are in the windows) I am hoping the winter will kill them off

On pissed people.

This was supposed to be post about the stupid drunk idiots the other night and how I can get onwith drunken people but stupid drunk people do my head in. However once I started typing something deeper came out.

I don’t drink. Never have and all things being well never will. It was a conscious decision I made very young in my life. It was very easy one to make to and to stick too. I have my Mum, Dad and Uncle (RIP) to thank for that and every stupid drunken arse for helping me maintain it.

As a young boy my Mum had a drink problem. I have memories of being picked up in a Police car from nursery because she had wrapped the car around another tree. There was the incident of me trying to poor the stuff down the drain too because I didn’t want her to drink. When I was 7 she was given a choice by a judge. Clean up your act or lose your kids for good. She decided to fight for us and had to entire Rehab. Dad was flying and spent many weeks’ even months away so we were stuck in boarding school. This was by far the worst thing in my life. I suffered physical and emotional bullying and don’t even get me started on the other thing that happened. I don’t begrudge my Mum because ever since that time she has never touched a drop. She has more than made up for it. So that coupled with watching my Uncle drink himself to the grave and my Dad on occasion acting like a tw@t when drunk I decided this really wasn’t for me. Bearing mind the addictive nature of my families’ personality I decided I never wanted my kids to see me in that state or have to deal with the things I had too.

Now I don’t have a problem with people who drink. What I can’t get my head around is drinking to get drunk. “yeah I am going to get pissed this weekend”, “I was so pissed this weekend I don’t remember a thing” that I just don’t get. People who go out have fun and drink are ok and I am all for that if that is your inclination. See I accepted that I was different and the choice I made means I don’t understand the thrill. I am not knocking people that do I just don’t get it.

So I accepted women(in fact a couple) who liked to drink. Who drank to get drunk. I hated it. Even when I brought it up I was knocked down with the phrase that I had the problem because of the past. CN’s Mum being the worse as formed part of the emotional bullying she inflicted on me. Even After I left her I still accepted women who drank to get drunk. Then I met a truly amazing woman who didn’t need to drink. She often in the past had beer but for refreshment. Since I have known her she hasn’t touched it. Not only that but we have fun. I have long believed that you can have fun without drink. Even on our wedding day for the toast ours was done with OJ, and we had a fantastic time and can recall every detail of the day and night. Seems it is Latin culture to go have fun and drink is there. Rather than Drink and try and have fun.

I don’t think this will change anyone’s mind about their drinking habits but do remember that sometimes it is not you that will suffer.

Sorry that was bit bleak hey…. Normal boring stuff tomorrow

The gig weekend

It had been a few weeks since Mari and I could relax at a weekend, so having no commitments we decided to take it easy this weekend. And never before has taking it hurt so much.

Saturday we popped into town to do a “bit” of shopping and catch a couple of bands we have not been able to see for a while. Unfortunately the things we bought tended to weigh an fing tonne and come in several boxes. O we had to drag these all the way back to the car. In the end I decide to shuttle run to the car as the girls were struggling to help. Then it was on to our first gig. Rubbersnake @ facebar. I have written a band review here on DM's site but I wanted to post from another point of view. See the rubbersnake are metal and this was the first time Mari and Ori and experienced this kind of music live. I think they enjoyed it but were most concerned about DM’s voice, as in how is able to sing like that. I did explain that he wasn’t hurting himself and that it was natural for someone who sings in that range. Sadly we could not stay and chat with the lads as we had to leg it over to the LV lounge for Los dos Amigos (Possibly) final gig.

It was a strange night in there and one I have not uncounted before. Lots and lots of people (not unusual) but a number of drunks and not in good way. I had intended to take a back seat and just enjoy the show but it became clear that might not be possible. Thanks largely to chavie looking polish dude (complete with tracksuit and baseball cap) who stumbled and weaved right in front of Bruno. Facing off to him at one point and general getting in the way. So I decide to put myself on at the front. So he decided to piss off but then his mate started dancing, just as pissed and uncoordinated so I spent most of the time arming him away from the stage area. Then, THEN the a Latino started with the drunk stumbling. So baseball cap wearing tosser came back and stood right by the mixer so I moved him a long. Which resulted in him jabbing me with his finger. Thankfully at this point proper security had been made aware of him and quick nod to the dude had chav boy out the door.

Rest of gig was ok but still had to keep pissed Latin man away. Was too happy as Chav boy seemed to waiting outside but eventually got bored and went home.

Sunday Mrs H got cold and the biggest shop of food we have ever done.

10 Years whats changed

Sometimes I think we tend think that life is stagnant and we haven't moved very far so 10 years is a good measure of the distance we have travel.

1998
1. Married (Well if you can call it that).
2. Computer knowledge was very minimal - I was studying at college basic IT skills.
3. Was learning how to deal with a baby.
4. Was learning how to deal with a baby with Downs syndrome..
5. Worked in the RAF - having secured a job back at the Air base I knew.
6. Was in dark place to be honest. The light was Charlotte the rest was pants.
7. Knew a little about engineering companies thanks to point one.
8. Lived in rented accommodation.

2008
1. Married but to whole different person in a whole different way.
2. Know a good divorce lawyer
3. Am now working in computers (Still belief I only know the minimum but it works for me)
4. Learning to deal with a young lady rapidily approaching womanhood.
5. Left the RAF, but sometimes miss it.
6. I am sooooooo much happier now. Having the right women next to you sure makes life a whole hell of lot better. Purging the bad things in your life helps too.
7. Work for the engineering company mentioned above
8. Own what I consider to my first house.

Give it a go yourselves see how far you have come.

Damit First problem

Struck our first real problem last night with the house. Grabbed a whole lot of nasty smelling clothes and thought I would try out the washing machine. So loaded up the big hole in the middle. Turned all the dials (After checking the book....first for me usually I just fiddle and hope it works), pressed go and ........ nothing. Bugger checked the book. Fiddle with some switches..........nothing. I wonder if the turned the water on?? dah daaaaaaah it started working. Great I thought.

I could here it churning away in the corner and then it went silent. Went in to find all the lights blinking and the drum full of water. Seems it wont drain. Since I don't want to pull the kitchen apart to find out if the pipe is bent. I will contact the workmen who put it in.

Haven't got used to the central heating yet too.

BTW new blog added about being a farther of a girl with downs syndrome. Going to be more feeling related and will keep the day to day stuff here. Link on right

Home sweet home

I am sooo knackered. It has been a long weekend and then straight back into work. The move on Friday actually went to plan and was very stress free in the main. Picked the van (Well truck up at 8.30) and then had to refuel the damn thing. Which was pain as the first garage didn't have any fuel and the gauge was right on the E. Then picked up Nes and Bruno to help with the work.

Cleared our place by 10:45 and then over to Ori's. In the mean time she was waiting for someone to come and take the Gawd awful furniture she had been "Given". She basically told the lady who she was looking after it for that she didn't want to move with it and if she couldn't find anywhere else to store it it would go to charity and that is what happened.

Got the call at 11.15 to say we had completed and the truck for the furnitured up. Hit the the road at about 12ish. Mum and Dad got lost thanks to the road they needed being closed. Anyway we unloaded Ori. Then it was down the pub for lunch. Dumped the stuff in our place. went and picked Charlotte up.

Bless her she got a bit confused although we had been taking her to see the new house she still got about 7pm and asked to go back to the flat. Once we had her unpacked a bit and slept there she seemed to grasp the idea that this was now home.

Only shite thing is no reception for Ori or Maris' phones which also seems to affect TV reception despite buying an internal aerial. Estate agents also let themselves in on Saturday which was well out of order and right bollocking ensued. They have now returned all the keys.

Bye Bye Bed

A little emotional morning we had this morning. It is strange but last night was the last time Charlotte would stay in the flat. So this morning she went round saying good bye to all the rooms, including her bedroom. She gave the bed a big hug and a kiss. Enough to bring a lump to her Dad's throat.

Feel a bit strange about it. So much has happened in Casita. So much good stuff. Like the beginning of a new era. I feel a lot like I am moving a way from my past. Even though physically not far it still feels, mentally like a million miles. I think I will miss casita but I hope and pray we will have many more happy things in the new house.

Two days to go

Boxes everywhere, lots of bits of bobs left about and Charlotte coming over to night. No idea where she is going to sit but at least her bed is free :-). Hoping that todays pop out to the solicitors will just be that and not the two hour feck around I had yesterday with the bank.

In other news Obama wins. i hope he can deliver on all he promised and adds some stability and sense to Washington. Now all we need is our lame ducked twit to voted out and I think I will be happy.

Things on the agenda today:

Transfer deeds to the Solicitor,
Pay the rental agency the money we owe for the few days we will be in the flat.

Just dragging at the moment and there is soooo much more I could be doing at home.

Boxes, Boxes everywhere

Jebadire Springfield I am tired of packing and boxes. Thankfully it seems to be mostly done. Just the TV and DVD which wont be packed until Thursday as Charlotte is about tomorrow. You really don't realize just how much crap you have until you try and pack it all up.

I also advice taking the week off before or at least leave a few days of holiday encase you need to dash around. I had to run to the bank this morning, not having any holiday left, and taking friday as flex to move, I went cap in hand to my boss and asked if i could pop out quickly to sort this out. I figured hour at most. Of course this would be the one day that;

1. The women in front was taking an age to sort out
2. The transfer I needed to do needed someone else
3. "Someone will be with you in a second" turned out to be "Sit there for 30 mins with your thumb up your arse"
4. the guy that did eventual come to help was not as quick as I would have hoped".

So the quick dash to the bank turned into a two hour snooze fest. Still it is done now.

Still not long now.

Blink and you will miss it

That was the theme for this weekend.

Friday night was ace, especially after the events of the day. Mari had invited over the lads. How ace is my wife !!!. So we had cake and drinks. Charlotte was very happy and sociable. Ended up jamming, with someone on the pots and pans (Mari),me on the violin (that doesn't work).. crazy, crazy times.

After that it is all a blur. Saturday was down to the houses to test all the lights, sockets and check over the general condition of the house. Lots and lots of packing and cleaning going on.

Sunday was pretty much the same, with a quick trip to comet to get an iron and microwave. Got to say that Charlotte was star this weekend. She was so helpful. Well she only want to help Mari, what Daddy was doing just wasn't good enough. She cleaned and packed and ended up asking to go to bed at 7pm and crashed.

Result is that seemed to have lots boxes packed and still stuff too pack ???

Well done Lewis and well done for leaving right to the last corner

Fianlly again

Completed on Uncles house today.

Managed to contact the window man who agreed to do the windows yesterday. Buyer was a pain in the arse too claiming they would not complete unless the window were up the THEIR standard. To which our solicitor told them to RAM IT in legal speak as that was never part of the condition for completion and if they did not complete today they would be charged Interest.

Low and behold by lunchtime today all monies had been moved.

On with the packing.

Thank you for the Birthday wishes

It's all going to rat shit

F**king british workmen. Thanks to a slack arsed window we might not be able to complete now................... so pissed off

I'm the strat man

Flip me it is cold. Seems as though winter has finally poked her head around the corner and beckoned us with her frosty finger.

Well Daddy’s green car is well and truly broken. The Steering rack is cracked and needs replacing, luckily they can do it today. That meant I had to bring my guitar in to work, as I am planning another jam session after work. Little did I know how much interest it would generate. From the “is that a violin” to our ex manager proclaiming that he was once in a band and loved guitars and what was the serial number of the guitar etc etc. Now me you see. I am an infant at all this. Devastatingly average as it happens or even worse, but I am learning and the only way to learn is to do. Got me to thinking as I have with everything I do, do I take it that serious that I know serial numbers of things.

Going back to my youth and playing golf. I just used to go out and hit the ball (and got bloody good at it). I had a cheap set of clubs, I think they were called Mananta, but as for the make and the model. No idea. Yet some of my friends were all like. These are Wilson 2500 with half graphite/steel combo half shaft (Steady but at the end of the day you still hit the ball in the water the same way. I guess you should really know your equipment but if you don’t and you know how to use it does it make it better or worse. Not sure what my point is to be honest. Guess I have never been into anything that much that I know everything about.

Anyway the aim of all this guitar planning is to hopefully one day to get and play a few songs. Played one already in from some students. Whilst it was only one song it was a real buzz.

Packing has continued with CN room being cleared with her “help”. Actually she was very good and helped make up the boxes as well as packing them.

Today I will mostly be paying for a new steering rack and trying to play notes in the right order to the right song.

Bare face cheek

Morning all. Hope this fine chilly morning finds you all well. Monday again and I just know the next 9 working days is going to drag.

The weekend was good, but could have been better. Me and Mrs H had booked Friday off to spend some time together and do a bit of packing. The plans changed when a friend of ours offered Ori some furniture from one of the ladies she cleans for. “Great” thought Ori will do me until I can get some new stuff. So off course I hired a van so we could run down and get the stuff. Anyway turns out “You can have the furniture.” Meant “Can you carry it around with you until I find a place and then I want it back”. Cue one pissed of me, Mari and especially Ori. To cut a long story short. A deal was done so that Ori could at least get some of the stuff for good. Anyway turns out the stuff was ok except this bloody long crappy side unit, which the friend wanted to keep. So still trying to cut this story short Ori told friend to ram it and she didn’t want the furniture and that it would need to be removed before we moved (proper) or it was going in the bin (so to speak). The cheek of it all. The basic just of the event was for us to carry and store her stuff… now resolved though.

Started packing over the weekend. Saturday went to look at ‘Garland’. Yep that is the name of the house. I can hear the sniggering already but the truth is we have named the house in honour of my Uncle, since without him leaving us his house we would not find ourselves in this position. Then off to my second home, B&Q, to get Ori’s curtains. The girls wanted to go on but my back had given in so I went home and they carried on shopping.

Sunday was more packing and then off to get Ori a Bed and Sofa, which she got a bloody good deal on.

Bad news is car started to make some well dodgy noise when I turn the wheel. So I am therefore off to the garage at lunchtime…… yipeeeeeeeeeeee ££££££££££???

Boy racers

Friday baaaaabbbyy. Ok it’s not but I have tomorrow off, so it kind of feels like it and by all I hold sacred it has been a long week. Working an extra two hours a day has left me a little drained and tomorrow I have to sit on the phone to sort out the gas, electric, water and phone for the new house. Unfortunately we are moving to a new postcode area and none of the online websites for the utilities have the new postcode. So while I can imagine it can be simple to do, when I put my new postcode in to the websites I get “Computer says NO”. So I have to ring them and convince that there really is a house there.

Last night something frightening happened to me and the family (Excluding CN). After visiting a friend’s house we were driving back home. I went round a roundabout and it seems I may have cut a yoff up in his wanky fiesta. I say seems because I am not convinced I did but he clearly felt I had. Anyway as I was moving on to a dual carriage way I moved over to let him pass. Any way this little f**ker and his clearly pikey mates took exception and sped up and then cut right in front of me and then proceeded to pull the handbrake and slam his anchors on. Now sensing something was amiss I of course backed off. (Mr sensible kicked in although Mr just drive round him was tapping the left shoulder) Mari was telling me to watch out, Ori telling Mari to be quiet and I told everyone to STOP. Well I kind of shouted it and feel bad about it. Anyway dickless yoffs, for I could see the many baseball caps in the back, Sped off again and yet again jamming the anchors on to an almost stop. Defence driving took hold and I left enough gap and momentum so that if they did get out I could move around them. Finally they just buggered off but it did leave everyone a little anxious. So what would you do? What if they had gotten out? All these things running in my mind last night which left me with a kind of sleepless night. Even got up at 4.30 to read….. I Know read. So reader what would you do?

All quiet on the house front for the moment. Picking up some furniture for Ori tomorrow and that is about it.

And the list goes on

Seems that having sold and bought a house, I mistakenly thought it would all be downhill from now. However I am discovering that the hard work actually starts now. Every time I cross something off my list I seem to add three further things. Added to the fact that, this I consider to be my first house move, I have no clue what I am doing and what I am supposed to be doing.

Good thing is as Ori is moving on the same day and too the same place. We should be able to hire one van to do the work. I have a couple of willing mugs......eeeerrr sorry volunteers to help out.

I am finding I need to have lists which is way to organised for me, and like I said every time I cross something off, 3 more find there way on to it.

D minus 18 then

The week has crept up on me like a lion stalking an unexpected gazelle. Doubled again by me setting the wrong blasted time on the first alarm on the alarm clock and when it went off it was later than I thought.

The weekend was pretty busy. Saturday I went to get boxes which proved to be a bit of a mission. Not the actual buying the boxes but getting them in the car. We bought some for Hermana last week end and they glided into the back of the car. Basically you can buy a pack for like a 1 bed house or 2/3 bed etc. Hers was a 1 bed pack and I bought a 2/3 bed pack. Well of course it is going to be fecking bigger but at the time it had not occurred to me. Anyway a lot pushing and moving of chairs and I was off (I think there was the odd muttereance of a swear word too). Then we decide to see our home and measure up for Hermana's. Young CN came with and she was a star. We have started to prepare her for the move and she is very happy. Even told us were the TV was going and the Wii. Had the odd experience of asking to use a chair and the sales lady rightly said. "Well it is yours". Then we headed across to Ori's pad to measure. Again CN proving very helpful and measuring everything. I think we got conned on the dimensions of the house because CN measured everything to 22cm. It is nice to see her understanding the concept of measuring though and in fact was writing all the measurements down for us. Then it was off to B&Q to look at Curtain rails and stuff.

1 x KFC and ice-cream later we were off back home, Where Mari and Ori went to John Lewis to have a look at house stuff too.

Sunday was softball and although there were only 9 of us we managed to have system that made a competitive game. The rest of the day we chilled with a homebase and John Lewis visit.

In other news - Friday night was a birthday party in the slug and lettuce and while they are happy to have children they don't really support them. At 6.30 the music is dialled up to "Have to shout at each other to hear you" level and a male stripper came in. At the point it was time to take my little girl out of there. Watched Superhero movie on DVD and was really funny but yet riuned again by people taken the piss out of the disabled, In this case Stephen Hawkin. - I know I am sensitive but I really don't see what this adds to what was a pretty good spoof movie.

Jebus I have rabbited on time to go.

House move dairy - Day 1

So Having pinched myself several times we now have to get down to the nuts and bolts of actually moving (Still can't believe it).

Yesterday I spent most of my time trying to sort out various things. Which including arranging the exchange on the house we are buying and Getting rid of the flat.

The exchange should be easy enough except for the deposit. You see all the money for our purchase is tied up in my Uncles house, which means we have to wait for that to complete. So I phoned the solicitor to check if we could exchange anyway (without deposit) having already paid a reservation fee. In the current market this was not a problem. So I am whipping down to the solicitors today with the paperwork. So this afternoon it should be official.

We then hit the first snag. Having miss read the contract for the flat I thought we could give 2 months notice at any time. Since we are moving on the 7th Nov I accepted that we might have to pay 2 months rent but since the flat is in a popular location it should go quick I was not too worried. unfortunately the dude at the agents said that actually what the contract said was that we could give 2 months in the 4th month of or 6th month contract. Confussed ??? You will be. Anyway had a chat with him and we managed to sort something out which may be cheaper than I thought. apparently we would have to pay a fee for breaking the contract which is 1/4 of what 2 months rent would be. I am still confused but they are now advertising the flat.

There is still a huge list of things we need to do.

BTW Jam last night was OK. Needed to bring more songs though as we got through 4 we had planned quickly and then did the "Do you know this one?"

Thursday, 16 October 2008

Finally

Yep finally had some good news on the house. Un-expectedly exchanged on my Uncles house yesterday. Even though a call earlier in the day had indicated that it was unlikely to happen. Well about 3.30 got a call to say they are ready to exchange if we agree to do 3 windows (We were planning to replace the lot) and fit a cover to the boiler. So now it is all go on the one we are trying to buy.

Whilst I left here in a good mood somehow I ended up stressed and tired last night and ended up shouting at CN. I hate that. Especially as really didn't do anything wrong. She was just being a bit strange and doing things she hasn't done for years. You know not really thinking. Like going for her flannel with the shower in her hand and spraying water everywhere, and then this morning she struggled putting her jumper on and ended up in such a mess. Neither really a big problem but I snapped and I hate that. I really do. I apologised to her but I still feel very wanky about it.

Sinking feeling

The waiting is really getting to me. I am trying to keep myself busy but it is really hard. Still no word from the gas boiler man or electrician and I am starting to think this is all going to fall through. It is a shame, but I am have the sinking feeling.

The jam night tomorrow is creeping ever closer and I dusted of my electric to try and get a feel for her again. Getting excited yet nervous. As I mentioned before two of the other characters are both in bands proper so for me and I guess Brendon this will be a baptism of fire.

I hate my new seat at work. I hate having my back to people and it seems that the corridor between DM and I has been labelled the direct route to every other desk. Thing that pisses me off is that some people have only moved from one window seat to another like the server nobbers and telephone girls ggggggggggrrrrrrr anyway enough of that.

Keep calm, So far not a good week

Bunny House's

Well another weekend has come and gone. Still no nearer knowing if and when we will be going forward with the house purchase. Some good news though Hermana exchanged on hers with a completion data on the 7th Nov and our sellers are happy to wait for the moment. I am still hoping to hit that date too but it all really depends on this week. We went over to have a gander at her place and took some friends. Popped into see 'ours' but it was a little depressing as we are so close and yet seem so far.

Last night we watched the Bunny house and I can heartily recommend this one. OK if you are looking for a deep plot with lots of action and twists and turns then don't. However we were just after something light and simple and it was just the ticket. Bloody funny too in some cases.

Got my tickets to DM ( No not him ) Depeche mode. Managed to get them on pre-sale really excited too.

Having a Jam session on Thursday. First time in ages as I am playing with Bruno (Los dos Amigos) and Graham Young from No-Connection . Which means playing with proper musicians. Bearing in mind my Shite standard I am feeling a little worried

Bowling stones gather no moss

No not the drugged up super thin old tart.

Last night was the company bowling tournament at the bowling alley. Along with Mrs H, Brunex, Big Frank, Jorge and Nasty Nes I found myself in a team called the bowling stones.

First game was rather eeeeerr average. Only Nester and Jorge hitting some sort of form with a 147 and 138. I pitched in with 126 (Should have been 138 but the stupid computer docked me spare for some reason and I wasn't going throw a fit). Guess we were in the running at this point as we all bowled pretty well even Mrs H chipping in with 83.

Next game was a different kettle of fish. Often sportsmen talk about hitting a "groove" (no not George on a usual Friday night). Well somehow I found it in the 2nd Game. Now when I was younger while the DM was raging with anger and learning the skills of a good frontman. Chad was bopping to the tones of whatever game before the stone rose and Chairboy started modelling different styles for his tache, I spent most of it in a bowling. I lived in smallish town with little to do so when they opened a bowling ally right down the street, I would spend afternoons there and on the golf course.

So I found myself bowling my second Highest scratch score of 221 YES 221.

Turns out as well we actually won the competition. Wine to the winners , which is a tea totaller is errrrrmmmm I suppose the thought that counts.

Small Update

Well looks like the house think may not come off. The women buying the house is really starting to annoy us. Despite us being told nearly 3 weeks ago they were ready to exchange it still has not happened. Largely down to them not actually being ready to exchange and not having a) Mortgage sorted and b) all the surveys they need done. They now need to have the boiler and electric checked so they can rent it out.

this El Matodor, Pissed, stressed and ready to tell her to RAM IT

Life is a rollercoaster

Holy hell it has been an emotional month and a bit. Well since I last blogged anyway. Nothing to serious and live in general is very good. So here goes with an update. I hate doing these but seems the quickest way to data dump.

I guess the most emotional thing has been my uncles house. We finally had a women agree to buy it. Which was very nice of her especially in this current climate. On that premise me, Mrs H and hermanita went look at houses, just to see what was about. I had been told of some new developments offering very good deals in the current market. Hermanita just came along reluctantly for a day out. First development we stopped at we fell in love with. It is a small development of houses not overlooked and the size of accommodation was bigger then I have seen before. IE big rooms. They also had some 2 beds and hermanita had a look. So to cut a long story short, we have now reserved a couple of the houses and are the process of sorting mortgages out. Again very good news. The bad news is that out deal relies on my uncles house completing. While my sister and I have signed and crossed all the t’s the women buying has now ordered another survey. Whilst I am told it is only natural I can’t help but get the feeling she is going to pull out. (That whole life kicking you in the nuts vibe I often get) So we are kind of in Limbo and really sucks.

The other news is I have discovered I have no patience at all for teaching, which I find very sad. Especially with trying to teach CN to read and write. I think I have mentioned this before but I do find it really hard. You see at one time I was very good instructor in the Control tower I worked in. However I am really struggling with her and I find my patience really, really short. Not in crappy beat you round the head way. Just in frustrating and you know it kind of way. Now the thing is CN knows this and knows which buttons to push. Thankfully Mrs H is an awesome teacher and has the patience of a saint so generally they achieve more with out me .

That’s all for now. I will try do better at updating this.

Summer Holiday

I know, I know. It’s been a while but I have a good excuse. You see I was on Holiday. The last few days have been very hectic and to be honest being back at work has been a nice break. Only joking. I am off again from tomorrow for the rest of the week.

In the last 10 days we have had weddings, my Sister and her family down, trips to London, legoland and the beach (OK it was only the man made on in the Orace but still a lot of fun). We are all bit knackered to be honest after all that and still a few days to go.

The wedding was my ex house mate/ land ladies and it was a very British affair with the reception being held in the gardens of a national trust site. Even the weather planned it’s part with a cracking bit of sun.

Tuesday my Sis came down with Husband and niece. We had decides that they would stay for a few days as we wanted to show them a good time. Wednesday was girlie shopping day as I had to work.

Thursday we took them on an adventure around London. Started with a train journey which my niece was so excited about. Imagine how she felt when she learnt that we were also going on the underground. Science museum was good, but I would like to do it as a grown up. Lunch at the rain forest café and then Hamleys (which was smaller than I remember it but then I was 11 the last time I was there). We were knackered by the time we got home.

Friday we told the girls we were going to a park with maybe a swing and some slides. They were happy but were both too excited when we parked at legoland. Weather was OK and we bought poncho’s which helped when the odd shower did come. CN enjoyed all the rides and even had a go at the rollercoaster. She is a nutter.

Saturday was a rest day and we just wondered over to the oracle where they have built a beach. The radio station were there doing games and I made a right tit of myself by falling over trying to limbo. However the kids loved it and got a good laugh.

Got to say I really enjoyed being Daddy over that period, organising things and getting everyone around safely.

More soon

Hey Bra

Well it finally happened. Young CN turned up at Casita wearing a bra. It was bound it happen and she is very proud of it. Although we must stop her trying to show everyone.

In other news, house still not sold but then that seems to be the norm. New boss is not here, which seems the norm. Wiwad pissing everyone off, which is the norm. Not much new to be honest. Panning a trip over new year if can work out time and finances.

I have a dream

Well actually it is the same dream which I keep having every now and then. Do you ever have that? This is mine.

I am back at RAF Odiham in the control tower. Only the date is now and I am the person I am now. My life is pretty much as it is now. The only difference is I am back there. The thing is they keep expecting me to know everything I knew when I was in the RAF and all the procedures at Odiham. They don’t seem to understand that I have been out for a number of years now and that although something’s never change, and for that matter some things you learn you never forget, other things will be different. During the dreams different people keep popping up from the past. Not sure why I keep dreaming this. Might have to do with it actually on occasion being really exciting. I have actually been in involved in several news items. Two actually very funny especially when you have a live news broadcast and the presenter is speculating about what actions might be taken and you actually know what is going on.

I think last nights was about this, as I was working with the Chinooks at Odiham. I have actually seen this for real involving a broken Wessex. It’s bit like the AA. Why not fix there I hear you cry? Well it is simple manpower. If they get there and they can’t fix it, you then have to send out a guard force to protect the area. So it is easier to whip the blades off, stuff them in the Chinook and the USL the dam thing home. Bish bosh bash.

Anyhoo time to go.

Postal

DM inspired post –

Well sort of if you read his blog this morning you will notice his post about guns and got me thinking about a school friend of mine. Chris Muller. Now Chris was one of these mofo’s that could make anything. At 15 he had built his own Jeep out of an old WWII Willys Jeep. Complete with massive tyres and 7ltr V8. I should also point out this dude was Gun mad and a hunter. I also believe, and this is true, that he started the free running crazy. You see he used be able to run up walls and at lunch would line 4 or 5 people up against a wall and then run over the top of them using the wall and that was 1987……anyway

Anyway there we were 15 year old and in the technical stream at school. We enter our fitting and turning (no not Dornorn dancing, metal work) placement. The standard assignment is handed out. Make something nice out of metal. Everyone went for the standard make a dice on a stand thingy, but not Chris. No this guy made fully working miniature cannon. This thing actually fired ball bearings so hard that when they hit the concrete wall they would flatten.

On another occasion, on my first visit back to South Africa, we (School friends although we were older now about 20) went to a club. The doorman stops me and asks me if I have any firearms. To which laughed and said no. Anyway Chris, who we had been with all day, Pulls out a desert eagle from under his jacket but wait he then produced 2 smaller guns from his ankles.

That is one person not to piss off.

15 - Love

Andy Murray made it perfectly clear when England football team were playing a vital qualifyer for the European championships against Croatia that he was Scottish and no way would he support England, or was it during the World up

soooooo

Come on Nadal. !!

See I am happy to get behind British when they are prepared to get behind each other. Had Scotland, Wales, Rep or Ireland or even Ireland got through to the Euro's I would have backed them. However I refuse to get behind this miserable half talented hack (who now that I have said that will win).

Twins

It was a weird kind of weekend. All started on Saturday. Mrs H and I got to spend some Quality time together and failed to do anything we planned. We decided that we had had enough of sitting in at weekends and thought a night out would be cool. So we headed for the almighty oracle and made a discovery.

There was an Italian Market in the arena area and while working around we discovered CN has a twin. Now I know generally to other people, children with downs syndrome maybe look the same, but to us CN is unique. However this little girl was the spitting image of CN. Her look, her mannerisms just about everything. I decided to go over and say “Hi” to her mother, since she had caught us staring at her and I didn’t want her to think we were arses. I wondered over and explained that I wasn’t staring and that the girl was CN’s twin.

Have you ever wanted to glimpse into a Parallel universe? You see it is something I believe in. I believe that for every major event in you life and the resulting decision a life line skews off and a parallel event is created. So in this case nearly eleven years ago I decided that I would not be leaving my daughter in hospital, like her Mum wanted, and that we were all going home together. Guess people will judge me on that, but in my heart that was never an option.

So anyone way back to CN’s twin. Turns out the Mother was actually her foster mother and that the little girl had a rough ride in this life but now she was with them she was doing better. I didn’t pry to much as I had only just met them. However it was very surreal moment for me. Makes me glad I had the balls to stand up and be heard when it counted and that there are some truly amazing people out there.

After that we went to book seats to see wanted, and then headed to Chili’s for a very average burger. Then it was back for out showing of wanted.

It was good yearn. Not what I expected. I would stick it on my not to queue for list but worth a watch at the Cinema. Question… why the hell would you go and see a movie where you have to sit right at the front? I mean surely you can’t see fork all. Even worse might be right at the front and in the corner. Luckily as we booked early it was middle, middle for us.

Sunday was Softball and a party. Where we met another little girl with DS.

All in all a good one.

Peace

Ketch up

It’s been a while…. Oh yes it has.

Weekend was spent up at my Mums and some time with my Sister as she had the weekend off. Sunday was a Braai and the weather held even if it was blowing a gale.

On Monday Mrs H started her new job. I got to say I am rather impressed with her company. She turned up on Monday and not only were they expecting her but they had an itenary all laid out for her for the next couple of weeks. She has desk and PC, Email etc already to go. Which is 100% more prepared than here. Usually new starts calls from reception, we go “who?”. Then there is a scramble to find a desk and a PC. Next it takes at least 3 days to get a login and email etc. Anyway she says that everyone seems nice and she is working with a few other newbies.

While Mrs H was starting her new job. Yours truly was at CN sports day which was very good and of course different. Since she is now with people of like and even worse abilities she seemed to be more relaxed and enjoying the day. She also got to take part in few more events.

That’s about it folks. House still not sold grrrrrrrr, but then in this climate no big surprise.

Good result all round

You have to laugh when the French get knocked out a tournament in the first round (yes I know we didn’t even make it but) and boy did I laugh even harder when it was cocky, arrogant bell Henry that deflects the ball in the net for the winning goal.

Anyways yesterday was CN annual review of her statement of needs. A day I have long dreaded for the last 8 years. You see most kids have parent teachers evening. Where you go along and find out how well little John is doing. However we have to endure the occasion of sitting with the professional and finding out that how well you thought your daughter was doing isn’t actually that well in the eye’s of the professionals. Normal there is a room fool of professionals, healthcare people, speech and language etc etc Think there was 10 people in last years. I used blog about this a lot on my other blog. However this year it was actually good. For the last few years CN has been mainstream school, the headmaster was a big twat and saw CN as special needs child rather than a student with special needs. The reviews were difficult because the school (even though the teachers tried hard) had no idea how to deal with CN. There was a certain amount of relief on Mr Twatheads face when we decided to move CN to a school for special needs. Anyway I used to come back from these reviews rather deflated (as the good DM will testify) so yesterday in preparation I took the day off. Seems I didn’t need to. Since the school has to do these reviews for everone, the system was much slicker and since CN is very happy in the school her progress has been awesome. Five us in the room this time teacher, councillor and parents. Still left me a little wobbly but that is more to do with having the meetings at all.

So that was my day. Back at work woo to hoo to the what a load of poo

It' s out of here

I really have been talking random bollocks for a while now. I really must try and stop it. Think it might be the first signs of madness setting in. Holy hell that weekend flew past. It started on Friday with me having to attend a driving workshop. Now I can full understand the need for this but I found it a bit weird and a little half arsed to be honest. Everyone there was doing to avoid the points on the license including me. So having been at work all day and then attending this workshop I was rather tired and had a rather bad head at the time. The course consists of two sections. First up was the video games. Click the mouse when you are the correct distance from the car in front, what speed would you do here in this situation and lastly hazard awareness. All interspersed with various questions about our driving. Then a 2.5 hour lecture about speeding where they emphasis not driving tired or pissed off, but then by 9.30 you are both. I found the information good but the videos were daft. You know it is test so you know what is coming and 2.5 hours really was a long time. I felt a short sharp blast would have been more effective. Will I slow down? Well yes I have been doing this for a while.

Banks are daft. Mrs H and I spent some of Saturday trying to open a new bank account. You see I feel it would be better to have all our accounts in one place and since I have been with mine for 18 years and we have a joint saving account there, you would have thought it would be a simple task. Eeerrrr no. In the end after an hour all we managed to do was do the paper work to change her name on the join account. Grrrrrrr. Frustrating.

Softball was great again. I was first up to bat and hit a home run. Not a bad start. We ended up losing though but that’s the way the cookie crumbles or ball flies.

Jason is back...

Friday the 13th. They should like make a move about that. I hope you are well and nothing to bad is happening. Next week we have CN annual review. To be honest I don’t really look forward to this and it usually drains me emotionally. You see unlike most kids we get to find out from the ‘experts’ how she is doing. Mentally, socially and physically. The problem is I see her a lot over the year and to me she is just my daughter. To this people though with out the emotional attachment she is patient/client. So while I feel she is doing really well in general they don’t tend to agree and we find out just how bad she is doing against different tests and bench marks. It also supposed to check that she is getting the right level of care and that she is at the school, etc, etc.

So far every year I have gone and then come in to work and got feck all (What’s new I hear you cry). So this year I am taking the day off.

In other news. Mrs H is well excited about her new job. Still haven’t sold the house. Looks like rain all weekend woo hoo 

PS 3 here I come !!

Well a large piece of the puzzle of life fell into place yesterday. Mrs H has a new full time proper job in the field that she is vastly qualified for. You see thanks to her student visa she was only able to work 20 hours a week and as a qualified IT professional companies were not very keen to offer her anything, despite having a masters Degree in Business Management and a degree in ICT. However she is now able to work full time and will be working for a Publisher in Basingstoke.

Softball was a blast on Sunday. We had full teams so it made it a lot more exciting to play. This made it a close game and very entertaining. I made a few catches and a couple of runs too, so in all a good session. I couldn’t unwind the big home runs though as I pulled my back the week before hitting the ground so had to bat on the safe side. Choosing to place the ball rather then batter the crap out of it. CN and I played a little catch. She used “Daddies glove” and the first ball hit square in the face. I need to teach to a) Move her hand s to catch or b) Duck.

That’s all folks hope you are all well.

Red light when your already late

Sometime you can only sit back and laugh at life. For example my Uncle left me and my sister as the main benefactors of his estate. This mainly consisted of the house he bought some years ago. So now we have the means to maybe clear some of our debts after paying off what he owned and guess what happen, go on guess. Housing market crash… I mean it really doesn’t make a big difference to me but it just frustrating as all my life those events seem to conspire against me. Don’t get me wrong I am more then happy with my lot in life but I think it is fair to say that when it comes to things like that I will never be the lucky one. I am happy with that but it still makes me chuckle. Is that Irony, like fork when you need is a spoon? Bit like dying of thirsty and all you some nice orange juice but you are allergic to it.

Anyway not much else to report. Started looking at houses which might help if the house sale happens or even someone goes to look at it. I will post pictures on here one day honest.

SNNNAAAAAP

Well it has been a funny old couple of days (Well almost a week to be honest). I have been in a strange mood for most of that. The weekend was nice and quiet. We went to go an see What happens in Vegas. It was pretty much run of the mill Romcom, with all the ducks ending nicely in a row. Sometimes it is nice to just go and sit and watch something like that. Not to taxing.

Sunday was Softball again. Turned up at Brunx’s at 9.30 and hooted the horn…. Nothing, so I called him… nothing. So I sent Mrs H in to get him. She found full clothed on the bed having just got in… Fair play I say. Anyway he was dressed and out the door in 10 mins although still very very eeerrr hung-over. The games were ok. We didn’t have a full complement but manages to play a bit. Got a bit heated at one point. Russell and myself went really sure why but there was a lot of finger pointing and raised voices. I think there was dispute about a double play we made.

Anyway Monday and Tuesday I spent in bed as I had a stomach bug which I suspect I caught from CN.

Finally I think the funny mood is breaking but last night I felt really stressed a very snappy had to work hard not to loose it over little things. Anyway back to normal today so all is good.

Lazing on a Sunny afternoon

All true apart from the sunny bit. Yet another bank holiday weekend passes in a mire of drizzle and rain. It wasn’t too bad actually since Mari and I got to spend sometime together doing absolutely nothing all weekend. In fact the only time we did get out was Sunday afternoon for a spot of bowling.

Saturday we started by watching a few DVD’s Hermana sent over but had also gone and got a couple ourselves. PS I Love you and Sweeny Todd. So we started of with PS I love as we thought it would be a jolly good laugh but boy were we wrong. OK it was funny but my God we spent most of it in floods of tears to be honest. Guess we can all somehow associate ourselves with the lose of someone close even if we actually haven’t been through it. Weird I know. Worth a watch? Yes definitely but be warned this isn’t a happy go lucky film. Sweeny Todd was next and I really was under whelmed with it to be honest. Don’t get me wrong MR Depp is very good and supported well by the cast but it didn’t rock my boat. Finally it was little Miss Sunshine which was the best of the day to be honest.

Sunday we had invited Brunx and hermanita for brunch, so I was on cooking duty. I love cooking but managed to screw up my eggs but at least everyone else’s was ok… I hope. To my surprise they wanted to watch the F1 grand prix from Monaco which was very exciting for a change as it was wet. Had to feel sorry for the Force India driver (Sutil) who was running in fourth. Yes fourth !! for those not in the know Force India are one of the worst teams. Mainly down to budget (they don’t have the power backers like MacClaren or Ferrari). So they don’t have a great car. Anyway he was up to 4th with a few laps left and then was taken out by an out of control Ferrari. I really felt for him.

Then Mari , brunx and I went bowling which turned out to be eventful. Mari has her own ball donated by my Mum. We were on the lane and then a couple of families started bowling on the lane next to us. So we were sharing the Ball returner and stand. After a few goes I got up to ball and the little girl next to us went with her Mum to choice a ball for her turn. Eyeing up Mari’s nice pink she went for it, to which I politely pointed “Sorry that is her ball” pointing at Mari. To which the Mum in a very arrogant and supercilious tone said “ It is NOT HER BALL it is the HOUSE’s BALL”. To which I replied in a slightly pissed off tone “NO it is actually HER ball”. “In that case she should keep it separate” She retorted. “No” I again replied “ It will stay on the machine”. Stupid French/Portugese women. Anyway we all played crap apart from Brunx.

Monday we had right lazy day. Spent most of it in bed. Then took the two hired back and got Charlie Wilson’s war. This was very good and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Peace

All quiet on the western front

First of Apologies for the rant the other day. As you can tell I was rather pissed off. Not because of what she said as to be honest I am used to it and ignore just about everything the old battle axe says. However it did affect Mrs h and that affects me. We are now getting through it and like I said it should that we are stronger.

Nothing much else to report. Mrs H’s job search goes on. Plenty of calls from agencies but they are bit like estate agents I find. Useless as crap but we will keep going and hopefully something will come up.

Short one today I have a bitch of a head hurt…..mmmm cakes woo hoo

Things that make you mmmmm

** Warning may contain swearing, in fact having read it again it does **

It’s been a while since I had a rant and it is going to be a fucking good one. As I am sure you can tell already. Right as you may remember a few days ago I mention that the bitch I was once married to wanted to have a chat. You may also remember that I speculated on a few things that she might have wanted to talk about. Well it seems I was wrong about them all.

You may also remember that I mentioned going to a meeting at the school about CN’s progress and I happened to mention that Mrs H was trying to teach CN about periods. Now I mentioned this at the time, not to stick two fingers up at her (the Bitchwife), but more to stimulate some debate about it. You know are we doing the right thing, the wrong. I figured as we were being proactive, it was a good thing. I also felt going to the school and saying how are you going to teach our daughter about these things was stupid. I believe that there some things that should be taught at home, or at least discussed at home first. Am I right? Now I have never had blood pour out of my vagina so I have no idea how that feels. However I know when my body started to change and I had urges, it was pretty fucking scary and since my old man was away a lot, no one ever explained things to me. So what I didn’t want is for CN to start having these things and think SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT.

Anyway the stupid bint rang me last night to tell me. That the last weekend that she had CN (Funnily enough the weekend after we had the meeting at the school), she had grabbed her trousers and pants and tried to pull them down in the garden. Saying “eeeeewwww Mari” to which she said “ Are you talking about periods?” and of course apparently She said “yes”. So the cow was ringing me to tell me that she is sure Mari wouldn’t want her doing that in public and she certainly didn’t. Now I have a few problems with this message.
1) CN has never never grabbed her pants and tried to pull them down in public or even in private.
2) If you ask CN a leading question and she doesn’t know what you are talking about she normally says “Yes”. Ie CN is the sky made out of blue cheese? Etc etc
3) This is the kicker right. We actually started talking to her months ago about it. So seems rather ironic that she has only done this now….mmmmm and and and we actually haven’t done it for a while.
4) Mrs H never shoved a used dirt towel in her face and went “look look blood”. She has been very gentle and caring about how to do it to not scare her.

It really is so pathetic and childish. She did the same when Mrs H and I moved in. We did the right thing by telling her and she was like all smiles and “I am soooo happy for you”………. bollocks. Then not two fucking days later she tried to fleece me for some more money. This time I had the proof I was right with the amounts I was paying, in fact it proved I was paying too much.

You see the thing that pisses me off is she could not be mature about it. You know talk to CN about it (if that indeed happened), or mature enough to ring us before hand and talk to Mrs H about what was going to happen and how we all should deal with it. No this bitch had to ring and try and have indirect go at us for trying to be proactive. What fucking right does she have? I mean I am not a total tosser and can see that CN having another women (who CN loves ) in her life must be hard. However I am in the same position and welcome her partners input. In fact anyone who can teach her something has my support since this about CN now. Perhaps she shouldn’t have wanted to leave her at the hospital when she was born. Maybe not wanting to have anything to do with her for the first four years of her life had something to do with it. Maybe her telling me that she would care for her but I would have to love her had some inpact. Perhaps the suicide threats (including the writing of the notes and taking the pills out) has something to do with the fact the CN feels closer to me (and now Mrs H) and the only way this control freaking arrogant bitch can save face is try and destroy that bond. Well it fucking failed. This has actually drawn us closer.

Right I am finished normal boring shite tomorrow. Please feel free to tell me if I am wrong, I am actually interested in anyone’s views.

Pathetic and childish ( a angry mans rant)

Swing batter batter batter

It has been a busy few days in the H house hold. Lets start with Friday and the good news. Got home with Mrs H to find that we had two notes from companies that had tried to deliver various things. One was my softball glove and the other from the home office. Cue a mad dash to first ring the delivery company for the glove to find out when I could pick it up or if they were going to re-deliver on Saturday. Turns out the next delivery were was on Monday so decided to go there on the Saturday to pick it up. Then a mad dash to the post office round the corner to pick up the envelope containing our passports which contains Mrs H’s new visa…….woo hoo . This means she is allowed to stay in the country without having to study and also mean’s she can work full time. Which we are really excited about.

Not much to report on Saturday except that CN decided to get up at 6am and make breakfast. Actually she did very well. Moved the plant of the table, opened the curtains, put all the cereals on the table, including milk. We have decide to not get annoyed at the early waking up and instead let her get up but she has to understand that we are not getting up then. Been doing this for a couple of days now and she is getting used to it. The only problem on this day was she decided to wash up her bowl first by using a whole bottle of washing up liquid. A short sharp word, a re-education and we hope it won’t happen again. I guess it could be worse she could have poured it over the carpet or in the fridge or something like that. It is amazing how independent she is becoming and we can’t really get cross when she is trying to do things on her own. We also popped out to get the glove. Then it was to friends for a small party, again CN doing very well by entertaining herself.

Sunday is game time. Now before I start I have to say how amazing my wife is. You see I am not used to someone sharing and supporting me in my adventures or sports. So I am really thrilled that Mrs H does this. I was a little concerned that I was being selfish by playing softball on Sunday. However Mrs H had a long talk to me on Saturday night and said that she was really glad I was doing it and that she enjoyed spending time with CN. So Sunday I packed the Girls a lovely Picnic and we all headed to the park. In my mind I was only going to play as long as both my girls were happy and as soon as one said they want to go I was prepared to leave. Anyway turns out that they were having so much fun It was never a problem. In fact it was me that said it was time to go.

So Softball. You see I am now part of a larger community and I am trying to integrate in the best way I know how. I wasn’t blessed with brains, good lucks or the ability to make small talk (especially in another language). However what I was blessed with was hand eye coordination. So in order to get to know people better I though I would join the Vcrew Softball game (well a knock about in a park). Having never played before it was all a bit un-natural having to use a glove to catch. Having watched baseball I knew some of the rules and had played the odd game (very badly). So this was the first time I had played proper and I really enjoyed it. Once I got used to using the glove (thanks Brunx) and that a forward defence is not used, I was in my element. 3 catches, 4 run outs/tags, Couple of basehits and one almighty bosh that saw 2 of our team home.
The only draw back is I ache so badly this morning.

Oooouuuchhh

Finally been able to get back into the gym. I generally hate having a long break from it because when I go back I tend ache like motherf**ker for the first few days after. Still starting to feel a bit better about myself. I get to a point where I don’t feel fat but unhealthy.

Anyway joined the Vcrew softball team and our first practise is on Sunday. Had to order a glove which should be here today……woo hoo.

Mrs H has been applying for jobs and hopefully will get something out of the applications. She is also trying to study for her ACCA exam next month. Right my job is to keep her from going mad or not driving her so.

Still no word from HER about what she wanted. Can’t be that important, can it??

So we wait!!

It can never be a good thing when you ex – wife wants to make an appointment with you to talk about something personal can it? Yesterday I recommend that now Mrs H and Her partner which big parts in CN life they should attend the numerous meetings we have too. Thinking that I would a verbal bashing she actually agreed it was a good idea and wanted to know if she could call me later to discuss a personal matter. Sorted out that six would be a good a time. As usual she didn’t ring. So what can this thing be? Could it be any of the following;
They are moving.
They are moving far away.
They are getting married.
Something else.

Guess I will have o wait and see. Hoping it is the third option to be honest, but you never know.

Daddy’s green car passed her MOT yesterday, which was a relief as I thought it would it fail on the emissions.

That’s all will update ya if I find out anything.

Fifteen Love

Another weekend flies by in a blur, but a very nice blur. It started on Friday night with a very weird night down at the LV lounge for a Latin Party. There seemed to be a bit of tension between two sets of lads. Looked like Latino’s (brazilian, I am guessing) and Polish types. Luckily nothing kicked off but it did look like it was going to. Then we had two blonde tarts dancing like they were in a strip club (ok they left there clothes on but really !!!). Hezuz !! I must be getting old there was a time I would have found that alluring (Like most of the young boys did in the club), but to be honest I found it a bit sad. Turns out one of the girls might have been with one of the groups that were sizing each other up. So maybe that is why. Then another very pissed up girl tried to kiss hermana’s chest. After that we decided it was time to hall ass home.

Saturday was chores day (as my Gran used to say. R.I.P). First it was off to the charity shop with several big bags of clothes we don’t wear anymore. I miss my shell suite!!!. Then I tried to find a softball glove. “What??” I hear you cry. Yes a softball glove. Which was bit like trying to find Gordon Browns Personality? The reason for this was caused by the V crew wanting to arrange a softball practice on Sunday (as the weather was good). Sadly I failed miserably as the only thing I could find in the whole of this town was kids Baseball gloves. Since I was looked for one for Bruno too and I have no clue what I was looking for. I decided not to get anything and wait for him and go in on Sunday morning before the practice. After that we headed to halifords and then for shopping. That Night we got some DVD’s. I thought best if the girls decided as I had been promised IRONMAN on Sunday. They chose well. The Best man, which having never heard off was actually very funny and Monster in law.

Sunday I gave Brunex a quick bell to see how their gig went and what the plan was. Unfortunately due to lack of response from the V crew, softball was cancelled. So we basically vegged on the sofa until about three thirty when we got changed to go and watch a friends daughter play a tennis match (which she won 6-0,6-0). Then it was off to IRONMAN. Which I found very entertaining. The Cinema was very cold though. Was told to wait until the end of the credits because there is an extra bit. Didn’t really rock my world but I am told by DM that in the world of comic books it is huge, the bit at the end that is.

Well that was it, another cracking Sunny, Yes Sunny, weekend in blighty.

Slow day in China town

It’s been a quiet few days in the H houshold. CN on Wednesday night followed by more work. Only real point of interest was yesterday I had a meeting at the school about CN, to discuss her progress. Seems she is doing really well and the school are happy with her progress. The subject of her becoming a woman came up which

a)Still scares the crap out of me.
b)Seems Mrs H and I (to be honest just Mrs H) are taking the lead on this as the other one hasn’t even thought about it
c)Still scares the crap out of me.

Sorry only a short one today as like I said not a lot going on and it is Fridayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy BABY!!!

Plans for the weekend include, cleaning (yuk), Shopping, DVD night and Ironman on Sunday.

Peace and Love

The last class

Tuesday’s have normally been a long day for us. Normally we are up at 6 am to take Mrs H to work for 6.30. I then head into work. She finishes work at 9.30 and then heads to school to study for her ACCA (accounting). We meet at home at about 4.30pm. Have a quick spot of dinner and then out to night school. I was studying Spanish in the beginner’s class and Mrs H teaches the intermediate one. Anyway we normally finish at 9pm and get home at 9.30 as it is some distance from the house. Before me and Mrs H went out together she had to catch a dodgy bus and that took even longer. Sooooo anyway she has decided that she is no longer going to teach there. It turned out to be a long day and once we paid for petrol and my course the prophet she made was not really worth the hassle. That being the case last night was the last lesson for us. I got to admit I am tad glad although wondering how I will learn Spanish now.

In other news ummmmm I was actually going to blog about my misspent youth in bowling alleys, which is how I got rather good at it.

Sorry rather short and dull today (yes I can hear you say “and what’s new”) still recovering from a very busy few weeks.

Peace and love

Arnold the Barber

As Mrs H will tell you sometimes I have the most bizarre dreams and lastnights was no exception. I was getting my hair cut a barbers (Now I haven’t done that in about 8 years to be honest, which is down to the cost for what I have done. £6 for a number 1 all over is ridiculous so I bought a pair of clippers and do it myself ) so that was a bit weird. Anyone who should be cutting my hair but the terminator himself Arnold Swartzenegger (or however you spell you it).

So for the first time in as long as can remember we actually had a good bank holiday week weather wise. You see for all those outside the UK in May we have 2 bank holiday Mondays. One at the beginning and one at the end, so basically a long weekend. Seeing as it is summer it is supposed to lovely but normally ends up pissing it down for the whole weekend. However this year it held out for some cracking weather. Which means we were able to fit everything we wanted to do in. That included a model aircraft airshow (Well it was a day out anyway) on Saturday. Bowling on Sunday and then a BBQ on Monday. Was very tired after it all to be honest and the Alarm clock was a bit of shock this morning.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Wednesday, 30 April 2008

Aaahhhh! There you are.

Finally getting to blog again. It has been very hectic few weeks. Well almost 5 to be honest.

First off the Wedding.
Awesome, awesome awesome day. LL looked absolutely gorgeous as I knew she would. Even after all this time she can leave me speechless. Everything went according to plan. The bridesmaids were very good. CN did very well, although there was a bit of a trauma with the ring cushion and she ended up carrying it down in glittery bag (which matched everything). It didn’t really detract from anything to be honest and she was very happy. The fiesta worked very well and all the people involved went above and beyond the call of duty. (have posted some pics on facebook and will put some here when we get the OK)

The Honeymoon
Margarita is a beautiful island with a very diverse landscape. On the on hand you have the beach (Caribbean) , to mountains (tropical) to almost dessert. All in the space off 42 miles (I think). The hotel was incredible. We went a few people there mostly Canadians (who are crazy but in a good way). Sadly too Germans taking the sun beds but I think that is a global problem. It was hard coz sometimes I had to swim up to bar. I did the Standard English thing and got burnt on the first day. It really is a different type of Sun and I am sure I had a sun cream failure hence the red chest.

Venezuela
We arrived in barquisimeto (which is where the closest airport is to LL house) to be greeted by most of her family. Twenty five or so people all waving and cheering. Felt a lot like a rock star. Tia Nelly had made them all wear name tags which was very cool. Some of the cousins had a surprise for us and put us up in a local hotel, which was very nice.

Then it was off to Carora to LL house. It was very hectic time and I really had to get used to the constant heat. Her Granddad and Uncle came down to meet us too. On the Saturday we had another celebration with her family and friends, which was very typical Venezuelan. A few trips around the local area but mainly catching up with her friends and family. It was a very good time and I enjoyed it a lot.

Back in Blighty
Yep we got back on Sunday and into work for 7am on the Monday. Not really helped by the lack of sleep for a number of days. You see I took a flexi day as one of holidays which means I had to make up the time. So that’s 8 hours in 2 weeks which is not to bad but, I was on a course in London the second week so 8 hours in one week. Bloody hard work but luckily I was kept busy.

London
Finally last weekend was our trip to see the lion king in the big smoke and we decided to say the night too and catch some sights. As normal Saturday was fine but Sunday it pissed down all day but we coped. Lion king was amazing not a lot of songs but the action and customs were out of this world.

So that is about it. Now settling down in to normal life. More soon

El Matador
