Another weekend flies by in a blur and it only feels like a few hours I was last here and not 2 days ago. The weekend started with a whizz and bang and pretty much carried on like that for the whole period. Friday night saw me debut as the sound engineer for Los dos amigos at the amazing 360 in the student union of Reading University. Having been there once before for a fiesta I knew it was big but hadn’t realised how big until we got there. Proper stage, proper techies and proper sh*ting myself; bearing in mind all I had to do was make sure they sounded good. Gig went really well 270 people all getting down to the boys, who played as well as I have seen them play. What about the sound?? Well apparently that was good too so I fell a lot better. It felt really good after the show doing the whole roadie thing on stage with everyone partying around the place. Big shout out to Andy the tech guy from the Uni who was very good and pleasure to work with. Hopefully the guys will be invited back. We then stayed at the Latin Party until the close and had a very good time. Even if you aren’t Latin these parties are great.
Saturday was more or less a chill out day. Had planned to do nothing until Jo my ex house/landlady phoned and invited us for lunch. It was a very pleasant time and Elliott her baby was very good and let mum have dinner before demanding his grub. That evening was spent with Hermana and Brunx, who was dying to hear the recording from the night before. Sadly I don’t think it was as good as we hoped, which is not a reflection of the gig but more my recording skills…. Come on one new skill a night is enough for me !!. We watched the hot chick and the heartbreak kid. The Hot chick is really funny in stupid way and the heartbreak kid was pleasant enough.
Sunday was wedding planning day. Photographer came over and showed some truly amazing albums. We weren’t to fussed about an official album since the photos are coming in a lovely box set but what he showed us on Sunday really gave us food for thought. It looks like we will have to raid the saving again when we come back. Then we sorted out the party bags for the crazy hour. By that I mean dividing up hats and whistles et al into bags to go under the tables. The evening was then spent at a friends of the LL who are providing us with a car for the wedding. You got a laugh at the helpfulness of some people. I went to the kiosk at the train station and ask for 2 tickets to Ealing Broadway via the underground. Now I did this because Anna thought the trains didn’t stop at the station (closest to them – west Ealing) on a Sunday. However the dude at the kiosk could have mentioned or said “eeeer are you sure you want to do that” as there are direct trains to that station, but no he gave me a funny look and then we had to do it the hard way. Anyway coming home was easier as we did just catch the direct train. Have a lot of respect for Anna because she had run the half marathon in the morning and then entertained in the evening.
Enough of my wild ramblings more soon.
